    I think that the main reason for the initial resistance to Hobbo was his introduction. Most new characters were eased into their existance whereas the Hobbo era brought him to prominence immediately and the public didn't get a chance to get used to him gradually. Grumpy

    She often showed concern for Compo when she thought he was genuinely in pain, and gave him snacks and titbits on various occasions as well as doing odd bits of washing. I think it was more affection than deep feelings but she certainly missed him when he died. Grumpy

    For me it is the scene in a pub where Clegg is explaining to Seymour and Compo that a Yorkshireman could have discovered America. Closely followed by Clegg describing how Hitler was an Ovaltiny to Compo. Grumpy
