It would be possible to introduce a retirement home for the older members of the series where they could indulge in the dialogue without undue physical exertion while leaving the younger members to be more active in the countryside. The main problem would be persuading Roy Clarke to continue...
I think that the main reason for the initial resistance to Hobbo was his introduction. Most new characters were eased into their existance whereas the Hobbo era brought him to prominence immediately and the public didn't get a chance to get used to him gradually. Grumpy
She often showed concern for Compo when she thought he was genuinely in pain, and gave him snacks and titbits on various occasions as well as doing odd bits of washing. I think it was more affection than deep feelings but she certainly missed him when he died. Grumpy
Bearing in mind the present economic situation I would like to know why hasn't the Prime Minister approached one of these companies that are always advertising how they can get you out of debt in less than five years. Grumpy

For me it is the scene in a pub where Clegg is explaining to Seymour and Compo that a Yorkshireman could have discovered America. Closely followed by Clegg describing how Hitler was an Ovaltiny to Compo. Grumpy
