Man sets off on Nidderdale walk dressed as a curlew
Matt Trevelyan made the Eurasian curlew costume out of polystyrene and bamboo.

Here we go again into the Wild blue Yonder wasn't it ?Good for him! He made a real nice costume as well. Had me thinking of the episodes with the Crowcroft Challenge and where Compo wears a pigeon outfit from Wally while trying to fly or hang glide.
I believe so, thanks. Here we go again into the Wild blue Yonder wasn't it ?
What a wonderful way to RAISE AWARENESS on the plight of this bird. Apparently, the curlew is suffering a loss of habitat. So sad. I hope that his Nidderdale walk has brought much awareness. I wonder if he was inspired by the Crowcroft Challenge.Good for him! He made a real nice costume as well. Yeah the environmental is a big talking issue. I don't really involve myself in it anymore. I did. A lot. Yikes.Wow, Mikey that is unlike any Hanna-Barbera animation I have ever enjoyed as a kid: Tom & Jerry, Yogi Bear, etc. Only found about a 1 minute clip of where the bird gets shot, no other context with it.
Only come across a few farmers and hunters in my life time and they all had extreme respect for the land and animals upon it. Doubt they would shoot a shore bird like that just for the heck of it. The curlews are not like a coyote killing the farmers livestock.
With any luck, the LOTSW hive mind will recall the title for you.I can see where that would shake a kid up, mikey. Glad they showed things like "Johnathon Livingston Seagull", "The Line and the Dot" and things when I was younger.
There was also another interesting one I cannot recall the name of. Think it was a stop motion puppet / claymation style. Was about two or three blind mice (or rats) that would follow a series of strings staked to the ground from where they lived to a river or water source. Not sure if they were brothers or related. There was a sneaky ferret type critter that would move the strings around on the mice without them knowing it. He convinced them the water had gone dry. Then one would go get water (after the ferret moved the strings again) and accuse the others of lying. Got the mice fighting amongst themselves. That's about all I can remember, haha. Would like to find out what it was and rewatch sometime.

Backyard wild birds are too small to make a meal on, but I do enjoy sharing a properly roasted duck for a company dinner. Much tastier than chicken or turkey.Sadly, I have heard that in places like India or Asia, they capture and dine on birds, any kind of birds.
Right I'm nipping on a plane. Get the duck on.Backyard wild birds are too small to make a meal on, but I do enjoy sharing a properly roasted duck for a company dinner. Much tastier than chicken or turkey.
Roast duck has been on offer only in England, so don't count on me to prep the meal!Right I'm nipping on a plane. Get the duck on.![]()

You're coming up to ten years being here in LOTSW land in October Rick, wow.I remember being at a restaurant in Atlanta (possibly?), Georgia a few decades back that served a roast duck coated with a raspberry sauce. Was very good.
