Oh No It's Selwyn Froggitt

Speaking of LotSW cast, while browsing IA I also found Clarence, a 6 episode series with Josephine Tewson, starring Ronnie Barker. The playlist at that link starts with those episodes and has several other series including the anthology series Seven of One that spawned Open All Hours and Porridge.
Another one in my collection, shame they only did six episodes

I have them on dvd, I'm a fan of Ronnie Barker but not sure this was his best work, I did enjoy it however.

I so wanted this to work but on the whole it didn't its very gentle comedy but after seeing Ronnie B in big hitters Porridge and Open All Hours this never hit the heights sadly.

Selwyn was a good slice of Yorkshire fun and the cast clearly have a ball making it. It's predictable sure but it warms the heart as it goes along despite a very thin premise.

Clarence is ahow that was intentially low key and more akin to an Eric Sykes vehicle really but both Ronnie and Josephine again keep it warm hearted.

Both shows are well worth watching just don't expect to be rolling in the aisles every minute.
