    Waldo

When Waldo catches me by surprise I usually end up laughing til tears run. Glad to know we agree on Waldo and Tom. I do like Tom's accent, but that is about it. Nancy

    Waldo

What a pleasant surprise to find that Waldo is funny - sometimes hysterically. I was disappointed to see him show up when I saw the first episode years ago. He's not so bad.

    Well, it is Friday

A cup of coffee and a good book sounds good to me. The kilts can stand in the corner while I am reading.

I want to know the correct spelling & meaning of a word used in show

I found a copy of "Understanding British English" at a library book sale. It has come in hand when watching the show.

    New To Me Series

I forgot to mention that I was touched at how kind Truly was to Clegg after Compo's death. P.S. What happened to the Quick Reply tab? It is a pain to fill out the Title: tab each time I respond. Of course, I still don't know how to include quotes so I am probably doing the whole thing...

    New To Me Series

It is much harder for me to watch Clegg age than it is Truly. Nancy

    New To Me Series

My husband was getting tired of watching the same episodes of Summer Wine and said to get some of the later ones. I said I didn't want the ones without Compo as they would be too sad to watch. He said get them anyway as he might like them. Well, I bought 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002. We've...

    I just realized....

I agree with Barmpot. "Hate" is too harsh of a word. Plus, I didn't think they were snobs at all, even Edie. Very funny, yes, but not snobs.

    Early Episodes

I do have some of them on VHS. It sounds like it would be easier to wait until they are available in the USA. Besides, I'm not that big of a fan of Blamire. Thank you all for the info.

    Early Episodes

Has anyone heard if the episodes from 1973 & 1975 will be on dvd soon? Are they out and I just can't find them?:

    New Pictures

I saw a photo of Drovers Bridge in the gallery. That is where I would like my ashes scattered. Well, I used to think I would, but it does look a little lonely. Nancy

    Funniest Television Couple Ever?

Just did a search and found out about George & Mildred. I wasn't expecting it to be a tv show by the same name. I will spend some time watching bits of it on youtube to see if I think they are funny. Nancy

    All Mods Con?

It is "All Mod Conned", isn't it? Leave it to me to screw it up. Nancy

    All Mods Con?

I will pass on all three all mod cons. Up to date indoor plumbing and water is all I will take. Speaking of Foggy. My husband has sat through many episodes of LOTSW even though he isn't a British sitcom fan. Sometimes he smiles, sometimes he criticizes. Last night we were watching some...

    All Mods Con?

I recently read a book titled "The Loud Halo", by Lillian Beckwith. It is a semi autobiographical account of her time in the Hebrides. One of the chapters was titled, "All Mods Con?". What are the odds that it would be the same as a Summer Wine episode, minus the question mark? This one was...

    Smiler's Chiildlike Joy

I feel the same about analyzing things too much. It takes away the magic of the show. Nancy

    Clegg and Alcohol

I thought British television, etc, always used real alcohol. That was one of the main differences between us (as in United States) and them. Besides, if it wasn't real, what was it - tea with foam? Sounds nasty to me.

    Clegg and Alcohol

Last night I was watching "Crums" and noticed, once again, that Clegg just barely takes a sip of his beer. I've seen that many times. Is that because Peter didn't drink?
