How did you get into the show and does your family share your interest in it?

sorry so late getting on. Had a busy morning, and just getting around to answering.
Well, I started watching Keeping up Appearances about 7-8 years ago, and I can recall seeing SW coming on afterwards. I never watched. I recall stopping a few times and seeing Early Foggy walking in the woods. So It may have been Waist Land, but I am not sure. It didn't catch my eye, yet I didn't really give it a chance. Also starting in the middle of the show doesn't help.

Well, in late 2012 I ran across some of the later Foggy , I believe it was Bicycle Bonanza. I remember watching from I believe when Wesley pulled the trio out of the water and the rest of the show.

I was watching on my own, and when we got netflix I told my husband about this show on PBS that was on for 37 years. We got on youtube and started watching a few here and there. Then when I seen where we could get on netflix I ordered all of the DVD in order and we watched them all. Then we ended up watching all of the Compo's on youtube while we were awaiting my DVD's from Amazon.

So , Hyacinth Bucket started it all,as we also enjoyed, As Time Goes By, May to December, and when we found that a show had lasted 37 years, the longest in the Earths history we figured that this must be a good show!:42:.

My kids have seen a few here and there, but they really do not show any interest. I know my husband gets tired of my marathons, but that is the only way he can get me to sit down. I am one that always have to be doing something. If I can do 3 things at once then I feel I am getting caught up!! So, even though he may fall asleep after 10 minutes, when he ask,
"Hey , you wanna watch a Foggy or, Compo, or Cleggy" I know he is wanting me to take a break with him. !!! He likes them too, but not like me!!

OK Brenda,

I will go ahead and ask this very common question.

What are your three favorite episodes?

And if you wish, you can explain why!

You know I knew I would be asked this and should have already had some of these answered in my head. My most favorite is Hail Smiling Morn or Thereabouts. I like it because it shows Clegg enjoying something, camping. He had it all hidden in his shed, and never got it out because his wife didn't like to camp. This shows that he loved his wife very much:28: ,and you could tell by the way he was talking about her detesting it so much Blamire and his experience with photography , and sharing it with his buddies. Compo just fell in there being apart of both of their desires. Compo was to poor to have a hobby, has anyone noticed that. He just talks about chasing women.:29:

The Scarborough Trip. I count Great Boarding House Caper and Cheering up Gordon as one. I enjoyed seeing them out of their comfort zone. Sharing a room, being with the married couples. Compo hanging out by the bathroom. Gordon enthusiasm in fishing, and then Compo trying to hook them up with some ladies. Ivy and Sid were priceless on the beach, talking about their"relations":30:

Some Enchanted Evening. I liked it because it showed so real friendship between the trio. Blamire and Clegg wanted to teach Compo a lesson, but it was for his own good. They didn't want him to "use" Nora, in fact that is the one side of Compo I didn't like. He was going to go thru with it and Nora was going to be a willing participant. Yes they ruined their buddies love life, but in the end it was for his best interest. It had a strong emphasis for the third man. Blamire and Clegg needed Compo to mold any conversation, be a buffer.

I do like the Blamire years, I don't know if it is because first that made me show interest in the show, I loved the Foggy years as well.

OK time to ask the awkward questions now Brenda. Are you like me, just a little bit scared of (our) Pearl? Do you sometimes close your eyes and have to steel yourself when you come on line and she's there.... you cant see her but you feel that she sees you... watching you...waiting for you to slip up... ready to pounce?.......:16:

Which of the actors would you like to hang out with and why?

I would say Jane Freeman, the woman that played Ivy. I have seen some off screen pictures of her and she looks like a friendly woman, and was probably fun to hang around with.

Are you anywhere near Tornado Alley Brenda?? Have you ever been near one?? :39::13:

Dick, Tennessee is south of what is called tornado Alley, but the past few years I have heard some say that we are at the tail end of the famous alley. Here is a map that shows the most destructive tornado's that have been recorded since 1950. According to it we are in it! It is bigger than I thought.

hope this works.

When I worked in St. Louis Missouri for 6 months where I would consider the middle of the action storms really came alive out there. They said it was because it was flatter up there. Storms there are really scary.

Have I been near one? When I was young , a huge tornado hit the Cincinnati area in '73 i believe. A neighbor came over and told us one went right over our house. I have actually seen 2 different cloud masses pushing against each other right in front of my house, and it was low , but a funnel didn't form. The news said it was about a mile from my house when I went outside to look. My husband was picking the kids up from school. That is why I was outside, and not in shelter.

Sorry John, not afraid at all! Must be a guy thing.:me:

Brenda, who would you say you were most like on the show?

Now don't laugh!

Let me explain.

Ohh, tough one. do I have to pick just one? Well,I am always what I call piddling around the house, doing something around the house. So I suppose I would say Nora!!!!!!! :30::30:

I DO NOT WEAR CURLERS OR WRINKLED STOCKINGS! LOL

When I go to work I wear coveralls!! So 8 hours a day, I am like Wesley! I work in an auto factory, and wear coveralls that they supply and wash for me. It is not fashionable, not everyone wears them, but if I can get them to do my laundry then I have no problem. I use to wear my own jeans and t-shirts,but the oils would get my washing machine dirty, and not good when washing our close in the same washer.
