    Saw Marina on Coronation Street!

Would it not be more fair to say that aspects of Jean Fergusson show through in both characters?

    Juliette Kaplan Interview

Sorry to toot my own horn again, but I thought a lot of you might get a kick out of reading this extensive interview with Juliette Kaplan: http://ftgetgo.wordpress.com/2012/10/16/an-interview-with-juliette-kaplan-part-one/ She was a joy to speak with and towards the end of this part of the...

    Summer Winos

We both have different experiences with the show. I grew up with Foggy's second run on the show and so have a fondness for those '90s episodes, whereas Bob has never seen them. He's a good few years older than me and got into the show in the late 70s and early 80s. There are bits of the last ten...

    best Blamire moments

Not so much my favourite Blamire moment as it is my favourite Micheal Bates moment, but these is a bit in "Pâté and Chips" where the trio are walking towards the café. During the take, the bells of the nearby church begin the chime and, as they do, Bates visibly checks the time on his watch...

I always find it amazing that the London Underground ever used steam; it's hard enough to breath down there as it is! ;D

    books

When Summer Wine came to an end, I recall Clarke mentioning that he was looking forwards to finishing a novel he had started years before, based upon his experiences as a young policeman. I really hope he does finish that.

In the first of several quite special posts to come, we've gone and done a video. Check out the site to see our quest to track down the train from "Full Steam Behind". http://ftgetgo.wordpress.com/2012/10/11/full-steam-ahead-for-full-steam-behind/

    Wally

I find it ever so slightly hilarious that, if one types "Wally Batty" into Google Image Search, the 8th result is a picture I took of my writing partner and my girlfriend looking at a cautionary school sign in Holmfirth. Strange the way search engines work their magic.

Any advice to anyone watching the show for the very first time

I would also show them something from Series 6. The most popular trio are in full flow, the series' slapstick elements have successfully blended with the more contemplative humour and actors like John Comer and Joe Glawin are still around to enjoy. My absolute favourite product of Summer Wine...

    Summer Winos

Please excuse my setting up another thread to plug my blog, but I didn't wish to clutter up the "Introduce Yourself" forum any further. We've got something very exciting coming up next week, but for now I thought you might like to know that regular updates have resumed for the foreseeable...

    Biographies

I have started to read Kathy Staff's My Story - Wrinkles and All and so far it is a joy. It definitely reads like the book has been put together from transcribed audio interviews with Kathy, but that's part of the charm; in some ways it feels like having a chat with your Nan.

    Hello from Me and Bob

Thanks for the continued welcome guys. I'm afraid we've stalled a bit at the moment as I have a book to finish and Bob is busy with his radio show, but we have notes on all of series five so there WILL be more. We're just not sure when!

    Beamish open air museum

I was there for the Steam gala last week and I don't think I've every seen the place so bustling and exciting. They're currently doing a bit of an expansion, with a new church opening near the manor house and some new building being added to the high street.

    other favourite comedy writers

Croft and Perry's Dad's Army is perfection and their other material is fitfully great as well. David Renwick needs to get himself back to the sitcom format; Whoops Apocalypse and One Foot in the Grave are great favourites of mine.

final reflections and questions on the final series

I thought the final run was a massive improvement on the penultimate series. Hobbo seemed to settle in place as a character and we got much less of his demented secret agent schtick in favour of genuine character development with Howard, Pearl and Marina. I haven't seen the final episode since...

    Hello from Me and Bob

Hi everybody. My name's Drew and I'm a long time Last of the Summer Wine fan. Over the last year or so, however, my fandom has become a little more... intense. Along with my friend Bob Fischer I now write and maintain a website called www.SummerWinos.co.uk. Our mission? To watch and review every...
