The BBC News site is showing some wonderful old black and white photographs of Bourneville where the Cadbury Brothers purpose built the village around their factory which produced the wonderful chocolate products we all enjoy probably too much of . I thought that you may like to read the article and to view the great photographs.

Somehow, CEOs of chocolate factories seemed to be inspired to create an entire town and to create many different things to ensure happiness for all of his factory employees. On this side of the Pond, Milton Hershey did the same thing. He took an existing town and turned it into his town, Hershey, Pennsylvania with a chocolate factory. He wanted to help his factory workers. So he came up with all sorts of things. He wanted his workers to relax so he built an amusement park. It's still in operation; these days it's known as Hersheypark. He also started schools for indigent children, created a garden, and started many other things which are still in operation. Of course, Hershey is a tourist destination where everyone can tour Hershey's Chocolate World, a factory store and virtual tour ride.
