Was on Tyne Idols tour of Newcastle in summer run by Ray Laidlaw the Lindisfarne drummer he had some great stories . In terms of that song the only true lines are the ones about sucking sickly sausage rolls, he pointed out where the Cafe was, just over the High Level Bridge on the Gateshead side of the river where they ate said sausage rolls :)

Local televised show based on acoustic/folk/bluegrass. Interesting instrument this chap is playing.

Sanford and Son have been mentioned elsewhere in threads plus we so sadly lost Quincy Jones recently so thought this would be a nice thing to add.

p.s. I first heard this traditional Irish song performed by Steeleye Span live in Brighton in 1993 (ish)

There is a long thread on Mudcat which gives a lot of detail regarding the origins of the song, which relates to a hare hunt in Granemore in the 30s. Many of the people referred to were real, and the song was probably first played in Toner's house.

You can hear Noddy's sound and style even back then.
I was not aware of the term "skinhead" in this context. :confused2:
