Tom's home for good.
A near impossible role to fill for Tom.....everywhere he looked he would have seen Bill.
Maybe he tried too hard at the beginning [for he had absolute impossible boots to fill as an acting "Owen"] but I feel he morphed into his character with the help of Auntie and Smiler.....never "perfect"......but there one "Owen" who ever could be P E R F E C T !!!!......

Too much "just like his father" lines from Nora Batty and other tie-ins set him up too much and inhibited individual character growth. I'm sure there was pressure to "fill the void" but in hindsight they probably should have just identified him as Compo's son and after that let Tom be Tom.
