You are on a trip to Mars, which can take almost as long as getting through the baggage hall at Manchester Airport.
You can only take 10 episodes which cannot include extended specials, what 10 do you take with you, Once you get to Mars you will be able to order online the complete series from Amazon for delivery ;)
 
How long does it take to get to Mars?

I assume a very long time.

(EDIT. Google says about seven months, which isn't too bad.)

Let's assume it would take even longer, I may not even complete the trip, and so would have to make a VERY careful choice...

The films aren't a saddening bore
We've watched them ten times or more
Nora spits in the eyes of fools
As they ask her to focus on
Compo dancing on her stair well
Oh man, look at that man go
It's the freakiest show
Take a look at the lawmen
scoffing up their meat pie
Oh man, wonder if he'll ever know
He's in the best selling show
Is there life on Mars?

This is one of those posts I need to respond to right away, but also need more time to narrow it down to ten.

The Men and a Mangle
The Empire that Foggy Nearly Built
Day of the Welsh Ferret

Then it gets tough. Some of Enwhistle's and Billy's first episodes are awfully good. Maybe Destiny and Six Bananas and There are Gypsies at the Bottom of Our Garden would round out the ten though. Those are really good later episodes.

The Loxley Lozenge (Hilarious physical comedy)
Who's Made A Splash In Wales Then (The series' only road movie!)
Will The Nearest Alien Come In (Just plain silly which I love)
The Secret Birthday Of Norman Clegg (I just cannot make sense of this episode so the 7 month journey will give me time to study it :p)
Destiny & Six Bananas (Our Own Peri in his series debut)
Where Theres Smoke There's a Barbecue (I can study the plot of land and work out where I'm going to put the bench)
Any random episode from series 30 or 31 as I find them so relaxing to watch and I'll need to calm the anxiety about what I'll find on Mars.

You can see by the last few I was really clutching at straws trying to decide which of the many wonderful episodes to squeeze in........

9. From Wellies to Wetsuit
10. Ordeal by Trousers

Hopefully these would give the Martians a good, rounded impression of human beings once I arrived as well.

Wouldn't you include Cheering Up Gordon Roger as essentially this is two parter with The Great Boarding House Bathroom Caper?
 
I would have liked to include Pate and Chips and Three Men and a Mangle in my list (may have to do a bit of rearranging).

There is something about Pate and Chips that has a feel-good factor, and reminds me of days out during past summers long ago.

And Three Men and a Mangle is... just amazing.

EDIT. Just noticed someone had Come Back Jack Harry Teesdale on their list. Another brilliant one I couldn't include on my list.

If two of us go to Mars, we could take 20 episodes with us...

Of course, if we all go to Mars together, we can all share our favourite episodes!

You had to choose the last one, weren't you in it guzzling beer at the back of the hotel as a 'supporting artiste'? :p
 
What is heartwarming about this is that Blamire only appeared in 14 out of some 295 episodes, and collectively we have chosen a staggering 7 of these particular episodes as part of our individual Top Tens.

I think Michael Bates would have been tickled to hear that.
