On the Buses isn't for everyone, it hasn't had the greatest critical reception and it features in some lists of the worst sitcoms of all time. That said it was immensely popular at the time so the viewing public voted with their feet.

Without watching it again sure there were "whiffs" of temper in Oh Doctor Beeching also.

The three spin-off films are worth watching too. On the Buses, Mutiny on the Buses, and the best of the three, Holiday on the Buses.

If you want Blakey with teeth in a film chock full of yesteryears stars including June 'Nelly' Whitfield then I hugely reccomend 'The Magnificent Seven Deadly Sins" from 1971. Something for everyone in there!
