Not sure how well a few movies I can think of at the moment would rate with you both.  I really liked them when I saw them as an early teen growing up - still like them today.  
"Death Race 2000" - with David Carradine and Sylvester Stallone.  A cross country car race where the goal is to (humorously) score points by running over pedestrians.  He would probably like the cars and the theme of the movie.  There is a little bit of nudity if I recall.

"Rollerball" Is about a violent sport which is a combination of roller derby and roller skating.  He would probably like the game and action scenes.  If I remember it felt a little long in some places at a 2 hour run time  when they focused more on story telling.  Not sure of his attention span for  long-ish movies.
