Whether you Loved or Hated her she did make a big impact at the time, aged 87

My mother always said if you can't say anything nice keep your mouth shut, on that note I am saying absolutely nothing. :)

All I will say is, we could do with some of the present lot banging their handbags on the table in Brussels /Strasbourg where ever.(I am a confirmed socialist too)

It wasn't her foreign policy's I had problems with, now I'm keeping quiet ;)

I do not think we should get to embroiled in politics on this forum as we all have our strong feelings but I do not wish anybody dead. RIP

To reiterate, I am a confirmed Socialist and am not saying that I liked her policies, just the fact that she did not roll over and play dead like Blair and co and also the Con- Dems have done in Europe. My whole family suffered when the mines closed!! >:(

agree with happyjack, we should avoid politics on this forum, enough of it away from our family site :)

i agree with happyjack and gremlin, this is a family forum and we are normally so pleasant, it shows what politics can do to people, i think susan summed it up if you cant say anything nice then dont speak, we dont want nasty comments on such a pleasant forum surely

Hi DJ, I ment I couldn't say anything nice so I was going to keep quiet. I can how ever see this subject going all nutty, lets hope we can agree to disagree and remain friends there is another thread running at the moment I think Started by Ros saying how friendly we all are maybe we should all go and re-read it. ;D Good wishes and peace to you all. :-*

First and foremost, RIP.

I have been somewhat saddened by some of the comments made in response to this thread being posted. In a way it is a pity it was ever raised. Being blunt, and I am rarely anything else, I consider anyone who rejoices in someone else's death, whoever they are, somewhat sad, bordering on the sick and just a wee bit despicable.

I fought against Margaret Thatcher's party in two general elections, as a local councillor I campaigned against several of her policies but as a Social Democrat I respected her as an opponent with whom I had disagreements.

So again, RIP

Well said Unc

Thankfully they have decided against the 'State Funeral' that she had wanted, I could see so much trouble ahead from people lining the route. However it would surely been much better to have a private cremation somewhere and saved us the expense. I doubt her family will be paying for it, and we can't afford it.

Speaking as an embittered (ex) Yorkshire coal miner.... REJOICE AT THAT NEWS.....REJOICE..(thatcher's own words) And in reply to Big Unc..your use of the words ..Sick..Despicable..Sad are well chosen...It was Sick how she allowed the police force and the armed forces to use such over the top tactics when confronting peaceful picketers at the gates of pits and power stations..it was also Despicable how she gave the orders to sink the Belgrano in the Falklands conflict..when it WAS turning away from the exclusion zone..and yes even a little sad that i have to still feel the way i do..but she felt no pity for us and none will be felt for her.

It's my own fault for first posting this subject,I only posted it as a snippet of news,I have my own views but prefer not to air them on the forum as we are all nice, kind folk who of course opinions will vary, it would be very boring if we were all the same, so can we please put this to bed now,as Politics and Religion are always a sore subject.
