Longest train journey

London to Inverness in one of LNER's newest trains, more uncomfortable than riding on the London Underground, give me a HST or Class 91 any day, sadly it seems all the mainline operators will be using these class 800 sets which are torture to travel any distance on, they have gone for speed and how many seats they can cram in rather than comfort

You should go to Japan. They have lots of two-car trains, all of which seem to have few passengers. Plenty of room to be had. To attract riders, local towns hold events. All of the local trains (not the bullet trains) are decorated both inside and out. They specialize in comfort and ensure that the seats are comfortable.
