Here is the first page I will post from a magazine published for Holmfirth around the Mid 80's I have posted it as a link so it is large enough to read, the first picture is some of the pubs around at the time, I don't think any of them exist these days, watch this thread as I post more as time allows

Watneys was a bit before my time but I always remember Jasper Carrott joking about it, I'm guessing it wasn't the best!?

I like looking at Ivys menu chalkboard, how the prices change over the course of the series and you can glimpse petrol prices now and then, 44p !
The one that makes him in doors laugh is The Man From Owerstry 33p for 3 half pints of beer. A few times he's asked if I remember going out having a few pints at the Ox then getting a bag of chips before getting the bus home and still having change for a pound! And a couple of times I've had to remind him " that wasn't me "
Not all pubs did bar meals back then either, they were considered posh but you did get a decent meal.
