Doc Martin remake

Why ? Watching breakfast and they have rebooted Inspector Lynley mysteries dropped the Inspector and Mysteries from the title sometimes and somewhere there is some originality desperately trying to get noticed and made into a show, especially in the quiz show genre which morph into a a pastiche of each other at the moment .

I stopped watching the games shows about 25 years ago, literally do my head in now, the mystery shows are all getting very samey I do love Death in Paradise but seriously how many clubs and murderers can you squeezing on a small island? I've been watching Brokenwood mysteries but it has the same suspects every episode and one woman has had about 5 husbands murdered but each time she was miles away visiting her mother so can't possibly have been her.

Was not aware of this. I've always kidded we had our Doc Martin remake and it was called "Northern Exposure" : )

This is what I'm seeing

Yes, there's a new American remake of the British series Doc Martin called Best Medicine, starring Josh Charles as Dr. Martin Best, a prickly doctor who moves from Boston to a small Maine fishing village, with Martin Clunes (the original Doc Martin) making a guest appearance as the lead's father. The Fox series premiered in early January 2026 and reimagines the premise of the beloved British show for an American audience, focusing on the new doctor's struggles in a close-knit community.

Key Details about the Remake:
  • Title: Best Medicine
  • Network: Fox
  • Lead Actor: Josh Charles (as Dr. Martin Best)
  • Original Show: Doc Martin (UK)
  • Premise: A brilliant but socially awkward doctor moves from the city to a quaint East Coast fishing village, mirroring the original's setup.
  • Special Guest: Martin Clunes, the original Doc Martin, plays the new lead's father in a guest role.
Why it's Happening:
  • Doc Martin has a strong international following, leading to adaptations in several countries. Fox's Best Medicine brings this popular concept to American television, adding its own flavor while honoring the original.
