Just asked it who was Wilfrid Brambell and got this answer;

Brambell was best known for his role as Albert Tatlock in the long-running soap opera Coronation Street. He also appeared in a number of films and television shows, including Steptoe and Son, On the Buses, and Fawlty Towers.

Brambell's estate was left to his wife, who died in 2002. It is not known who inherited the estate after her death.

I'm sure other members can spot the many errors in the above!!!!

I have just used an AI tool to answer a specific question about "Summer Wine". It included the following incorrect information:
  • There was a strike by the Writers' Guild of Great Britain (that affected filming of LotSW).
  • Compo appeared in series 29.
  • Two episodes made in 2008 remained unaired until 2012.
  • The episodes are considered to be among the best of the series.
  • With guest appearances by Peter Sallis and Frank Thornton.
  • The episodes, titled "The Second Stag Night of Doggy Wilkinson" and "What Happened to the Horse?", were ... postponed due to the death of one of the show's stars, Gordon Kaye.
  • The episodes also include guest appearances by some of the show's former cast members, such as Nora Batty, Compo and Foggy.
  • The episodes will be shown as part of a special season celebrating the 50th anniversary.
Need I say more?

It would be nice to know exactly what was asked!

Sorry to correct you on a minor point, but Compo did appear in series 29 albeit posthumously, in It's Never Been 10 Years ;)

I am interested in caricature , local art studio is going to hopefully be running a course. To amuse myself I asked Chatgpt to create a caricature initially of Kier Starmer to see how good it was and to be fair the image was fine . I then asked it to produce one of Hobbo specifying "from Last of the Summer Wine " in the question and this is what it produced.

I'm thinking closest to Howard but no moustache .

Looks like my dad!

I subscribe to Which? a well respected consumer magazine in the UK. They have run reviews of the various AI tools and the results certainly shocked me, particularly the inaccuracy of them.

I worked as a Contractor for which some years ago, I was disappointed with their so called research, the would get several similar product in, try them out and rate them, but it was not a long term test, many products can show their weak spots weeks or months after use, but which have rated a product highly, you buy it on their advice and find down the line it is not as good as you thought it would be.

One example of this was cordless phones, they tested a batch which I knew 3 of them where actually the same product, made by the same company, 2 of them had brand names that were not well known in the UK, so which rated the one that was a badged as a well known UK name, the only difference was the well known brand had a different mains power supply, which had a massive failure rate within 12 months, customers were all claiming their money back or a replacement from retailers, yet the other models did not suffer this issue and continued to work with no problems for many years.

These are very valid points, but perhaps sometimes we shouldn't let perfect be the enemy of the good. Which? isn't perfect, but I'm fairly sure they don't take freebies or financial incentives from the product manufacturers. They always make a point of saying they buy each and every item they test. I know that many other so called reviewers take free products and give them favorable reviews if they pay enough back to them.

Which? do say they try to emulate long term use in their tests, ie boil a kettle 100 times a day or have constant rollers on mattresses which mimic long term use.

One thing that does get up my nose is 'influencers' who clearly have no expertise or integrity but their followers buy products on their say so, like the mice following the pied piper.

Anyway rant over :D

Good points Barry and these days it very hard online to pick out the good from the influenced stuff, I have also noticed on some online store reviews, many pointless reviews saying, 5 stars, it turned up today but I have not tried it yet, so are they giving it 5 stars just because it arrived.

Personally I like to wait some weeks before I will leave a review, if they chase me for a review I will leave it even longer, so after all this time I am happy to give 10 stars for the ride in your Roller

I am also a Which subscriber and atypically use their reviews to decide on small electricals in particular and I have to say I have always been delighted with following their recommendations and never ever had a disappointing result regarding my purchase . I wouldn't go past them when buying kettles , irons , their reviews have been accurate and the items have fully lived up to expectations.

I'm the same CC, interestingly Which did an article on the sheer volume of fake reviews on Amazon which they don't seem to care about or take down even when they're clearly false. I've bought countless electrical items on their recommendation and more or less they've been perfect.

Perhaps I'm just old, if I was 30 years younger maybe I'd get my buying advice via TikTok from some 'famous for being famous' pouting 22 year old by a pool in Dubai telling me how an airfryer had changed her life immeasurably .......:rolleyes::rolleyes:
