DFS local radio advert

Heard an advert for a DFS furniture shop sale today on the radio.

It was based on Wallace and Grommit.

Very good likeness to Peter Sallis' voice - very passable, and must be considered if anyone made a talking book on the Norman Clegg diaries.

Just listened to it, quite good but he had one of those Kenneth Williams type voices that was difficult to imitate

I thought many of the mannerisms etc were there that Peter Sallis had - Peter Sallis' voice was so distinctive it's very hard for anyone to copy it I should think.

Obviously it's not perfect by a long chalk, but a very good effort nonetheless.

I did some telecoms work at DFS, now I know where all those second hand pallets go

I think the voice of Wallace is now done by Aardman Animations employee Ben Whitehead. He did the Wallace voice on the video game Wallace and Gromit's Grand Adventures.

Peter Sallis agreed to provide the voice as a favour to a young film maker for a peppercorn figure to help him out. Then it became a massive success which enabled him to have film success. Talk about good Karma, I think it even enabled Peter to visit the Oscars one year.
