COVID Vaccine.

According to tests ,the one I had PFIZER should give me extra antibody's after my second one.:)
While your immune system is working at full bore to develop those antibodies, your body won't have any energy to spare, so plan to sleep through the process. That process will probably cause a very short-term low-grade fever, too, so you might want to take a couple of paracetamol before you get comfortable for sleeping all day.

Sage advice thank you, also it beats the alternative!

Matt Hancock in the briefing today has referred to the volunteers undertaking vaccination as the "Jabs Army" so perhaps we need to rewrite the Bud Flannagan song:-

Who Do you think you are kidding Mr Covid
If you think we're overrun
We are the people with the needles in our Hand
We are the people who stop what you've got planned
So who you think your kidding Mr Covid
If you think we're done

Mrs Brown comes back from town
On the eight twenty five
but she gets up next morning
ready with her needle to keep us all alive

So watch out Mr Covid
You've met your match in us
IF you think you can crush us
We're afraid you've missed that Bus
Cause who do you think you are kidding Mr Covid
If you think old England's Done.

My wife had her 1st a few days ago with zero side effects, she works in the healthcare industry and her employer arranged it for everyone.
I called my GP, and I guess I'm not eligible yet. They said if you have health issues or you are over 65, you are to the front of the line, but I guess having one lung/asthma/RA and a few other issues isn't serious enough????? They nicely said they'd call me, yeah right, don't believe that for a second. So, I'm just being a hermit. :)
My wife got a card as well, I'm guessing we will have to have that card to travel to prove you've been vaccinated? I'm in the states, I don't really watch the news, but I haven't heard anything about needing the card to go from state to state?
No it want be good, my specialist rang me last March when it all kicked off and told me to shield and to stop taking my meds at the first sign of the virus. Your immune system is compromised so you need it, tell him I said you need it now. But seriously, definitely chase it up.
I finally got my first dose (took me a while to email my Dr, absent minded and I had to put a transmission in my car) As soon as I emailed her I got a call from her nurse and she asked me how fast I could get there!! So, got it the same day!
Now on to my second dose......Not really looking forward to it because my wife had a hard time with her second dose (flu symptoms, nausea). She slept it off, lasted about 24 hours so I guess I'll just plow through it.
Very glad I got it though!! Better than the alternative !

Will do, 3 and half hours in and have a slight headache but other than that I'm fine. It feels good to get it done.

Just an update, I have a bit of a headache and I'm very thirsty but all in all I have no problems so far. I think I must have the constitution of a rhino. I've told my daughter the contingency plans for the school run tomorrow probably won't be needed, the fresh air will do me good.

I would have been due in the next couple of weeks being just under 50, but its sods law there is going to be a 'significant drop' in vaccine supply for a number of weeks
Ring your local surgery and ask to be put on the left overs list. They get so many vaccines a week and if the uptake drops they have lists of people they ring to come in and get one so they don't go to waste. My surgery has a clinic at weekends to use left over vaccines and is offering it to teachers and teaching staff.

The Government seem keen to promote Double Jabbers waiting and not to just go back to normal because the risk remains to those who have not had the jab . That was supposed to be June but if there are issues with supply [though that is so hard to discern you don't know who is telling the truth] then that could be delayed.

I'll be 95% covered in 3 weeks but we were told not to get complacent because although we're covered we can still get it and pass it on to others that aren't covered. I think it's going to be a long time before we can totally relax. I intend to carry on with the mask, handwashing and social distancing for a long time yet, my biggest fear is not actually getting it myself but passing it on to other people.
