What dog do you think would suit the chartacters:

To start I think that Howard would suit an English Sheep dog, those large hairy ones. He can run in the countrtyside with him and take his mind off Marina..

I think Truly would need an Alsatian.

Excellent!

I can see Clegg with a nice Spaniel, similar to Mitzi, only very friendly.
I can see Foggy with a Dobermann like mine, only there is no way he would be able to handle it.
Compo would have a scruffy Mongrel.
 
Wally and the Whippet was a perfect match. What a cute Dog, but Wally was like that in his own way.

I agree with all suggestions :D. As far as Clegg is concerned I know Peter used to have terriers when he was a boy and also likes Alsatians, but a spaniel would suit his character very much!
 
I think Alvin might suit an Irish Setter , something a bit excitable and slightly crazy ;)
