There is also a "new" pub-ish place uptown run by the
pub man who used to run a brewpub down in Oxenhope.

Isn't there also a pub called The Silent Woman, in Slaithwaite? I think it is the one they used in 'Where The Heart Is', the lovely medical show which they dumped in favour of The Royal.

But I think the Royal was also good with Bill Maynard in it..

No, it was about a Medical Centre, the nurses and their families. Pam Ferris from The Darling Buds of May was in the first few series. The town was called Skelthwaight I think. I loved this show, but it was decided that there was not room for it and The Royal, so I lost out on a favourite.
