The story lines did flag a bit sometimes, but then you would get a gem like 'The Crowcroft Challenge', and things got better.

    RIP Max Bygraves

I found a piece about this show in an old book. It was written by Eric Sykes and Sid Colin. Everyone who was anyone was in it at some point, a bit like SW. Some of the more notable names were, Hattie Jacques, Julie Andrews, Ronald Chesney, Alfred Marks, Gilbert Harding! Jack Train, Bernard...

    Hey I'm back

I am the same Rhi. Scones need very little handling so they turn out fine, but by the time I have finished with the pastry it really is awful. I mentioned in another thread, the New Zealand cook, Nici Wickes. She says that the pastry that you can buy in the freezer shop is so good, why bother to...

    Hey I'm back

I make a good scone, 'though I say it myself as shouldn't'. My pastry is like cardboard. Do you say scone to rhyme with 'stone' or with 'Ron'? I use the flat Ron.

    Compo and Foggy's Military Backgrounds?

I worked it out that Joe could have been a friend of my Grandfather. He was a left handed riveter, which was quite important as riveters worked as a team, right and left handers. My family are all mostly still in Jarrow.

1987 Christmas Special; Big Day at Dream Acres

Eli was fun though. And Pearl, was that the first time we saw her 'dressed up'? My late mother was convinced that the part was played by another actress!

    Weekly Collection Magazines

Sorry, I am deaf and can't hear all of the advert. I saw 'Sovereign of the Seas', which is also a famous ship it seems, but not one I had heard of before I looked it up. Isn't the internet wonderful.
