Hi Rick, I remembered that one too and it was bugging me I could not remember the title, but a little digging and I found it is "A Bicycle Made for Three" - episode where the cafe has been newly redecorated.
Hi Rick, I should have typed Brougham Road in Marsden before, gah.
The Duck feeding area in Holmfirth is down the steps from the Crown Bottom car park near the Co-op. There are a lot of them! Sometimes a few can be seen on the river near the Old Bridge Hotel and it's not unusual to see a...
The first one that sprang to my mind was "Who's That Dancing with Nora Batty Then?" Wasn't sure if it counted as it's "after-hours" in the cafe, but it is an episode I like.
Hi Rick, glad to be of help. Maybe it is a blessing in disguise that you won't make it this year as it will give you longer to plan.
Amused you mentioned the expression "ducks in a row" because I was going to mention a fun thing you can do in Marsden, there is a charity shop in Brougham Street...
Yes, you are right Adrian the building all aglow and under both the moon and a street light is Kaye's Ironmongers.
I see now which sign you are meaning and think it is a banner on the Nook building next door to Neil A Kaye, Optometrists (I would hazard a guess this is the same family as the...
Thanks Captain.
PS to Rick - I should have mentioned (especially as this would come under one of the concerns you mentioned) that "Seymour's house" is a private farm and can only be viewed at a distance from the road, or indeed from the Foxhouse!
Hi Rick, found this thread looking back through the posts.
You've really been given a huge amount of good advice and I hope you'll be able to make the trip this year or if not, definitely next!
If there is any specific question I might be able to answer please fire away, but I will mention...
Thanks Rick! I am going to post some more tonight, but don't want to flood the site with too many photos all at once (that is as good an excuse as any for being slow going through them :) )
I do remember reading a post where you were looking for advice on a Holmfirth trip, and I will have a...
I don't think Beatties would be visible as it is at right angles to the bit of the cafe that is out of the picture there (hidden by the church building). Unsure what that white thing actually is though but it may be a notice board on the side of the church.
Lovely photos, Peri. Thanks for posting.
Laburnum is a beautiful tree but a poisonous plant, there were some in the garden of the house I grew up in and we kids were always warned to be careful with it.
Also known as "golden rain", an apt description!
Thank you Peri - yes I do have more pics but need to be in the right mood to go through them weeding out the ones that did not come out as well as I had hoped!
Thanks Adrian. The first one is in the centre of Holmfirth (taken from the area in front of the Old Bridge Inn and looking towards the church and the block which contains the cafe, whose door is visible (but only just!) The second is in Huddersfield Road, Meltham, near the "Bandit Bank" area...
