hi chris, this devolution will only go so far...much as many hearts in the uk would like to see it the fact of the matter is that we are a small country to begin with and full independence for each part is just not practically viable...but I do stand to be judged wrong, just my opinion.
As for...
I know what you mean about the nostalgia, the age of the earlier series with the prices shown in the café do give another dimension to the enjoyment of the programme...7pence for a cup of coffee !!! how much in costa today ?11?
by the way howardandmarina, you have probably noted the imminent storm in the uk....if you are in ohio aren't you in "storm alley" and if so has it affected you at any time ?
interesting read philosopher clegg, but bear in mind its just a one off half an hour episode...I look forward to it of course and if a series were to follow all the better.
funny you should mention them minxie, of course there was a link between thm and the programme because stan laurel's daughter made a cameo appearance where she went into the café, saw nora was wearing the same hat and exited again rapidly :)
I was watching a documentary today about the life of john le mesurier, i'm a great fan of that man's talents as an actor and wonder what sort of contribution he might have made to our programme...a brilliant man who's footloose and carefree attitude could have brought a lot. I know his talents...
sorry to hear that minxie, yes our system is archaic and you don't have to go to france to see a more enlightened way, its the same in Scotland....not that it helps you...been through the same, commitment has to be made to avoid timewasters.
steak and kidney pie is wonderful.....but a well made steak and kidney pudding is even better....there's a small local café on the high street in altringcham going into Manchester called "the dom" and they specialize in steak and kidney pudding....instead of flakey pastry they seal the filling...
good for you bwingate, exactly the same with my two sons who are now 23 and 18....lovely lads who would do anything for anyone, the formative years, which i'm sure you'll agree with, were hard work but it pays off... :)
