It's that thing where some people are famous for being famous. The idea that a celebrity is someone with a talent to be celebrated died a long time ago.

ITV has something like 4 quiz/game shows on Saturdays. Presumably someone is watching them, but it's nothing more than chewing gum TV. Unfortunately British TV is dominated by that kind of thing plus soaps and "reality" TV. Even dramas IMO are mostly boring and half the time feature the same actors.

I won't miss Holby City because Mrs WM used to watch it and that kind of thing bores me senseless. But bringing back Waterloo Road is no improvement! It could be a medical condition but she seems okay drinking from a cup. I've sometimes seen other actors shake a bit and it made me think that for some reason they may get nervous in certain scenes.

On the Wormley Witches episode tonight Nora had to try and get something out of Alvin's eye with a hanky and her hands were shaking really badly. I always imagined actors to be confident but it seems that even they get nervous with some things.

The best trick with matches is to wrap a bit of tin foil over the head and then light the stalk. When the flame makes it to the head there's a mini explosion. It's even more fun if you do it with a batch of matches.

It's much better than I expected and S2 takes an interesting turn. Takes a bit of time to get used to subtitles only for someone to briefly speak in English!

The second series of French SF drama Missions is on BBC4. I hadn't seen the first series so have been watching it on iPlayer. It makes a good change tyo the kind of dramas that my wife watches.

Does it say anything about how Peter Sallis got on with Thira Hird? In his autobiography Sallis describes her as "ghastly" IIRC.
