I seem to recall a brief moment when he was dancing on the roof of a run-down seaside cottage and singing "Jingle Bells" in the episode "All Mod Conned", but I don't suppose that would really count.
Aside from the episode "The Man From Oswestry", did Foggy ever discuss at length his army office door signs or his skills as a calligrapher? Were said skills ever integral to the plot of any other episode?
I believe so. The trio rigged up three ladders with a wooden plank between two of them to fix the paintwork above the cafe entrance.
They also used one to sneak up on Nora to settle the question of the size of her feet.
The Man Who Nearly Knew Pavarotti
The Last Surviving Maurice Chevalier Impression
Feel free to add to this list of episodes where Compo would break into a song-and-dance routine.
I would tell anyone new to LOTSW that they are in for a real treat. It's quality, clean, family-oriented humor that puts senior citizens in the most positive light possible, despite them acting like juvenile delinquents! It's a nice and refreshing change of pace from the foul-mouthed tripe and...
Just trying to think of all the episodes that featured Wally riding his motorcycle. I'm reminded in particular of "Cheering Up Ludovic", which was hilarious seeing Wally trying to catch up to the runaway van that kept falling apart! Also, just curious to know if a motorcycle license in the UK is...
As I understand correctly, wasn't he asked to return to LOTSW on several occasions after his 2nd departure? I believe he turned it down because he felt as though he exhausted the potential of the Foggy Dewhurst character and had done all he could do with it. If that was the case, then at the...
Just watched this episode last night, and it seems to me of all the episodes that featured arguments between Sid and Ivy, this is the one where Ivy was the most vicious towards Sid. She was constantly putting him down and hitting him with trays. All he was doing was trying to repair the electric...
I always thought this episode could have had a better title. After all, the frozen turkey man bit was only during the bar scene with the female bartender. Most of the episode centered around the trio trying to find a treacle tin that contained "Yorkshire remains" that Compo buried under a bush...
If I recall correctly...
She sold Howard a ceramic shepherdess which he later gave to Marina.
She sold a lot of second-hand clothing to the trio as well.
Didn't she also rent out scooters and/or bicycles to the trio?
I wonder why there was such a long gap between Gordon's appearance in "Forked Lightning" and his introduction as a permanent character in "Car And Garter"? Was the "Forked Lightning" appearance simply done on a whim with no real interest on his part at the time to be a serious actor? Maybe it...
I'm reminded of Foggy and his love interest in "Who Made A Bit Of A Splash In Wales Then?". Perhaps it was all a bit more flirtatious than heartfelt, but maybe that's the best we'll get from Foggy!
I just visited the www.bbcamericashop.com website, and there's apparently two DVD sets of LOTSW that caught my eye -- Vintage 1995 and Vintage 1995 Reserve. Is this to say there were two series of LOTSW that came out the same year? Here's the link...
Cciaffone, those early Foggy episodes are classic, especially the 2-parters...
The Flag And Its Snag
The Flag And Further Snags
The Great Boarding House Bathroom Caper
Cheering Up Gordon
Honorable mention also goes to "The Kink In Foggy's Niblick". Watching Compo steal golf balls and...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but is this the first time the trio ventured into a second-hand junk shop prior to the addition of Auntie Wainright to the cast? I think the owner's name was Dougie or Doggie if I'm not mistaken. I remember Clegg being very cautious about entering the shop for fear he...
