    TV cookery shows

Nici Wickes, who endeared herself to me when she said it is a waste of time making your own pastry as there are so many good ones in the freezer shop! And also Delia Smith. I have her original, 'How to Cheat at Cooking' from the seventies, a great book. Both of these ladies are fun to watch and...

    Ever Decreasing Circles

I was never sure if I liked Martin, or hated him. I loved Howard and Hilda though.

    Edie's tea set

I am sure you are right Susan. I don't have the tea set, but I do have Christmas Wall Plates in this pattern

which actor do you wished had done a guest appearance in lotsw

That sort of remark makes me mad. I like her, but she is an entertainer after all, we are the ones who are doing her a favour watching her, not the other way round.

It is a Sad Day When

The above is very true. But then again we have been watching On The Buses in the afternoons, how they got away with that I don't know. The worst is thinking that we would believe that a sad old man like Stan Butler would get all of these dolly birds! I often wonder what my grandfather would...

    Marsden

If you are interested in canals and such like, yes it is well worth a visit. From the railway station it is a shortish walk along the canal to the Standedge Tunnel Museum. You can have a trip into the tunnel itself. This area was used as a location quite often. Marsden itself is the home of...

    Other things by Roy Clarke

We were watching 'A Foreign Field' last evening. One of Mr Clarkes better efforts (they are all good, but this is very good) a film made for the BBC. The cast list is impressive. Alex Guiness, Leo MacKern, Jeanne Moreau, Lauren Bacall and Geraldine Chaplin. A mixed group of people meet up at the...

What is this building used for

I am truly sorry but I didn't understand that. I thought that the original question meant the building opposite Cleggies place, which is the Red Lion.

What is this building used for

Oh good! I love being right for once. It doesn't happen often in our house.

    two Blamire-era episodes in particular

I may be wrong of course, but I think it is above the Digley reservoir. Also used in The Wild Blue Yonder episodes. I also feel that at some point it was renovated and turned into a posh dwelling.

    Rail fare increase

I guess I am lucky. We live in a very quite part of Surrey. We don't get too many buses, but they do run, and are mostly full of old folk who are no real bother. I do have a bus pass as well. I have never had a train that didn't come, but I don't use them much.

What is this building used for

We stayed at The White Horse, some years ago. The bedroom were very nice, but the rest of the pub was a bit shabby. They seemed to feed the dogs in the bar, which I thought was a bit strange. The Old Bridge is fine. The best we ever stayed at was Dunford Bridge, just outside Holmfirth. It was...

    Best City

As a general rule, our British cities have a Cathedral, there are exceptions, but does this apply in the US ?

What is this building used for

It is sometime difficult to remember, but was the Old Bridge an hotel when Clegg and Howard lived above the church? When we first visited it was just a 'gentlemans residence'.

    FOTSW Locations

Most of the pilot episode was filmed in the Beamish Open Air Museum. And yes the Co-Op is in Netherthong. I have a good photo of my husband sitting outside.

    Best City

Sunderland is one of the newer Cities as I remember. The ones that don't have a Cathedral. My aunt was in Sunderland on a very wet day recently. She is nearly 90 and a heavy smoker. She was passing a pub with a covered in smoker's place when a man popped out and invited her in. He and his...
