Now, OOO ARH, am I reading this right? £100 ten years ago to watch a football match? I used to watch it for nowt on t' telly. And I could watch a goal from ten different viewpoints in the space of a minute. These days my desire to watch the 'beautiful game' has diminished to zero. I used to like...
WAISLEY
Waisley a mechanic was able
To sit and drink tea at the table
But Edie his wife
The bane of his life
Made sure he said grace from the bable :eyesroll:
That's tough Terry. Hopefully you will soon be well enough to take your Holmfirth break. I too have had to postpone my planned Sunday break. I was going to make a visit to the front door but, regretfully, my legs have given a distinct NO NO to that idea. Not to worry, we still have our friends...
A very staid man was old Clegg
To whom Howard would so often beg
To deliver a letter
But Clegg got the better
And told him he'd broken his leg
I have often wondered about that Dick. I don't watch football anymore, there are too many amateur dramatics. I do watch ladies football though. they are so much better at it than the fellas.
I am having trouble with this one. Some help with the last line would be appreciated.
Compo and Clegg were walking a doggy
One night when the weather was soggy
They got lost in the dark
While in Holmfirth park
?:confused2:
Any ideas
A short sighted fella called Eli
Decided to make a big fruit pie
But things became awkward
On his way to the orchard
When he fell face down in a pig sty....:12:
At Nora's door old Compo was knocking
Nora inside was busy unlocking
She gave him some brush
And an almighty push
Then kicked him with her left wrinkled stocking :eek2:
A man from the yard called Truly
At cricket was made to feel poorly
The ball missed his pad
And that was so sad
Cos it knocked off his leg side gooly ....:frown2:
Do we have any limeriskists ....limerickers..... err, people who can write limericks among us? I think it would be fun to limerickize the stories of SW. in limericks. I thought about this idea in the middle of the night when I got up to take a 'comfort break'. I spent the rest of the night...
You are right Captain, some of the costumes do look most uncomfortable to stand up in let alone run 26 miles. There's one guy who dresses up like a rhino. He's been doing the run dressed like that for a few years now. It does the heart good to see so many people going through such agony to...
Is anyone joining in the London marathon tomorrow? I wish that I had the energy to run a marathon, I wouldn't run in one, I just want the energy. There are things I would rather do than jog for four hours. I do admire the people who take part in these fund raising events and I will be watching...
Did anyone see, on the news Mon/Tues, about the council workers who turned up outside a private house to paint school signs and zig zags in bright yellow on the pavement outside the house. I was half awake when this was shown and I'm not sure where it was. Apparently, the house owner did go out...
This is the opening scene of the episode, 'The Three Astaire's'. It is a cemetery and I suppose that most of you will be aware that Bill Owen is buried at the bottom of that slope on the left hand side. I was informed that he himself chose that particular spot for his final resting place because...
