    Friendly service..

I generally like the ambience of Costa and do not object significantly to their around about £3 for a massive white Americano - appreciate that they supply newspapers to read.

Who's this Gothic and what did I do to him?

T'were only after I posted that I noted the thread to which I was trying to respond was the 'Announcements' forum. I did of course realise that 'gothic' was a nomme de plume but could not resist a wee bit mischief. Remember the Pirates of Penzance - 'Peers will be peers and youth will have...

Who's this Gothic and what did I do to him?

Noted thread titled 'Software Update' by some character Gothic. Maybe I have been dozing but who is this Gothic character? Tried to reply to his thread and got this off-putting message: "Big Unc, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons...

We have woken to around three inches of snow in Fife this morning. But should start to melt fairly quickly.

    For Lovers of Steam Engines

Just to confirm, have found a photograph of Britannia dated 11 February 1952 hauling Royal Train conveying the body of King George V! from Sandringham to London. Loco has the SC designator plate on the smoke box door.

    For Lovers of Steam Engines

We live and learn. Previously I just wondered about the 'SC' designation below the engine's home locoshed plate. Now realise it stands for 'Self-Cleaning'. Reading the literature am certain the 'Britannia' Class were fitted with the self-cleaning smoke box at original construction. LMS were...

    Bus Stop - long wait?

Another Bête Noire A bête noire of mine related to buses. Up here in Dunfermline we have an excellent express bus service to Glasgow (every twenty minutes taking around an hour). That is where the buses terminate, that is to where the buses go. Does their indicator board read 'GLASGOW' as would...

    Bus Stop - long wait?

Used to live near Worplesdon towards the end of my school-days. Before reaching the illustrious age of 18 it was not unknown for me to indulge in the odd pint of mild and bitter. (Is that combination still drunk anywhere these days?) There was an excellent, well enclosed bus stop on the...

Clegg's stumble in Defeat Of The Stoneworm

Quite right. Looked at it all again in slow time on DVD. I had not factored in that after going through door in living room they had to turn right through ninety degrees to go down steps. Puzzled a bit that on Howard's side of wall there was a discontinuity not there on Clegg's side but...
