    LOTSW abroad

Is Last of the Summer Wine popular abroad like other British comedies? I wonder what the French, Germans and Americans would make of Compo's pursuit of Nora Batty?

We demand a Knighthood for Cleggy

I think he deserves one, shame Richard Briers has passed away as I think he deserves one too and Daniel Day Lewis. How people like Elton John and Mick Jagger get knighthoods and the talentless Chris Hoy is beyond me.

Series 12, Episode 2; Come In, Sunray Major

Great episode, though I don't think it's as good as Return of the Warrior, which had both Seymour and Foggy in it. Thought it was sad the way Seymour leaves the series, but great to have Foggy back at the time.

    Loxley Lozange

Yes I thought that was apt at the time Bill Owen passed away, perhaps Roy had a crystal ball. It was funny the way Foggy thought it was a cough sweet and elabrated on this, could anyone see Wesley being interested in an old sweet?

    Michael Aldridge

Why did he quit LOTSW? The charactar of Seymoor was just beginning to be accepted and people were forgetting about Foggy, did he have some disagreement with the cast or Roy Clarke? Was it ill health? Perhaps he could have returned a second time like Brian Wilde, had he not died in 1994.

    Loxley Lozange

Love this particular episode, shows how things would have worked with Foggy had Brian Wilde not chosen to quit to persue other projects, the reins were taken up in the 1990s when Foggy returned. The three walking off into the sunset in the end credits was another nice touch.

    Repetitive?

Compo used to call the third man, whether it was Foggy, Seymour or Truly, by a female name, such as Marjory for example, from time to time as he did to random one off charactars.

People who have never been seen

We never saw Travis, Entwhistle's wife (who he occasionally mentions), Smiler's wife.

    Ever Decreasing Circles

Caught a repeat of an episode of this 80s sitcom the other day, I'd forgotten how good it was, comedy in a claustophobic goldfish bowl close. Richard Briers, Penolope Wilton and Peter Egan all showed excellent performances.

which actor do you wished had done a guest appearance in lotsw

Richard Briers Eric Sykes Leonard Rositer Richard Wilson Dermot Morgan

    Repetitive?

I think in the later episodes Barry's obsession with golf was getting a bit tedious.

    Marsden

Is that the Marsden where a battle in the English Civil War took place?

It is a Sad Day When

Sad, but typical of nowadays, they would rather spend money on some unfunny modern comedy with zero laughs.

    FOTSW - September 1939

Never watched the series when it was on, is it available on DVD?

    Captain Clutterbuck

Recently watched this episode, can't believe that people thought this was the worst episode, I quite liked it, the way the conman uses Foggy's gullability to get him to part with money for a map. Also wasn't Clutterbuck the name of the guy who was the human canonball in a previous episode...
