A trip to Homfirth

We're going to spend a couple of days looking around Holmfirth in July prior to my 60th birthday, but so as not to embarrass Mrs WM I won't try to re-enact any Summer Wine scenes Have booked to stay at the Foxglove in Kirkburton which is only a few miles away.

Is the Daisy Lane bookshop still going? If so, I'll definitely be able to pass some time, and spend some money, in there!

Hope you have a nice trip there, WellyMan. The Foxglove looks nice, let us know what you think of it. I believe @Marianna has been to the Daisy Lane bookshop a time or two. Hopefully she will chime in when she gets a chance.
Daisy Lane Books is one of the few shops in Holmfirth that I've never visited. I try to avoid loading up my luggage with books, and for the last several years I've mostly limited purchases to ebooks.

It's an interesting layout, it's a bit depressing downstairs - it looks more like an bunker than a living room!

It is rather, no natural light, despite its history with our beloved show its not a place I'd like to buy and live in, much prefer Hill Street properties though Cleggie's come with a health warning your neighbour is constantly barging in through your door.

The lack natural light in the living room would depress me, I hate having lights on and in there it would need to be on all the time. It's so different from what we're used to seeing behind that door.

The layout and the lighting make it nearly unlivable, but depending on the condition of the property and F&F, the asking price isn't at all bad. Are property prices in the north of England coming down from their recent astronomical level?
House prices have definitely come down a bit. There was a steel house not far from me up for sale in the hight of the mad prices and they wanted £350,000
They're all ex council houses and are bigger than brick houses but there was a time you couldn't get a mortgage for them. Now they sell really fast, we used to live in one, they're really big with huge gardens but I didn't want to buy one but that was a crazy price! My daughter was renting a house and asked the landlord to sell but he wanted to much for it, they eventually bought a bigger house for less but last week we found out it was up for sale at the price she wanted to buy it for!
