Commenting on another thread made me want to ask this question but I didn't want to hijack it so I've started this.
In recent weeks we've had new series of Endeavour and Midsomer Murders.
The first of the new series of Endeavour started with what can easily be described as a remade condensed version of The Great Gatsby, to say I was expecting Robert Redford to walk on any second is an understatement, last nights was very similar to a Sherlock Holmes I've seen. I have to wonder if the writer is losing interest in the program.
Midsomer Murders as always been a bit " Out there" but the last couple have been wayyyyy "Out there". The one before last had no murders! And last weeks was just a rehash of several other episodes. The writing is becoming very lazy and the subjects are getting more ridiculous.
What is happening to our home grown writers? They really seem to be struggling for original subject material and plots. We used to make some great programs but just lately I'm becoming more disillusioned.
