I can't tell you anything about tanks but if you have a spare day in Dorset go to Monkey World.

I've visited that region, too briefly, and here's what I recommend. The nearest rail station is Wool. The Tank Museum and Monkey World aren't very far apart. Check TripAdvisor for accommodations and Traveline for bus timetables/stops...
