My Father was a tank commander in the second World war, but that didn't stop me thinking of Bomber Command, forgotten and left out for so long.
This memorial is amazing and I have so much respect for the groups, companies and individuals who have made it happen.

Lancaster bomber sculpture in Lincolnshire approaches milestone

Officials hope the steel frame will be finished this summer and the sculpture finished in 2025.

I have just seen the story on BBC Breakfast , it is an epic piece of sculpture up there with the Angel of the North . One of the Project people was saying its volunteer funding , the construction team haven't been fully paid yet so their goodwill has played a huge part in getting it to this stage . I am sure that gap will be bridged imminently with donations flooding in because it is just a wonderful tribute to all of our heroes alive or fallen.
