I am just watching Wallace and Gromit at the proms, and the voice clearly isn't Peter Salis. An end of an era, whoever has taken over sounds very much like Peter but not quite. Sad!!!

Just looked up what I think you refer to on You Tube. Certainly a very good impression.

I don't know if Peter Sallis has finished with the part for good, or how he's getting on general. Anyone?

They've had a secondary Wallace voice for years now, used in adverts and computer games. His name is Ben Whitehead.

As far as I know, Peter is still used for the major works.

So just what is a "PROM"???

Prolly not a dance for high school seniors???

Abbreviation for "Promenade" as in "Walk About". A proportion of the PROm audience stand in the area of the Albert Hall cleared of the stalls seating:

"Prom is short for promenade concert, a term which originally referred to outdoor concerts in London's pleasure gardens, where the audience was free to stroll around while the orchestra was playing." See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Proms
