Found this article, I know most probably already are familiar but for those who don't it's quite interesting

I believe myself that Russ Abbot turned his back on acting after Boomers was cancelled , the show I thought was good and with a really strong cast including our Gordon [ Phil Jackson] , Alison Steadman , Stephanie Beecham , Paula Wilcox and perhaps the lesser known James Smith but those at Auntie decided it had to go and i believe that was the end for Russ because the show had such promise . It would be nice to know if that was indeed the case but I'm guessing that wouldn't be likely as Russ would not agree to an interview .

His anger would be even more exaggerated now because the show Two Doors Down is not too dissimilar , it even got a Christmas special which must really irk him further not because it's a bad show but because Auntie commissioned as show on similar lines [stories about the interaction of couples in a street who are friends with the addition of Mary Doll [Elaine C Smith] ]

I watched Boomers, I didn't think it was hilarious but there were some funny moments, enough to keep me watching.
I'm just not a fan of Russ Abbotts, he did ok in skits but a full show was a bit of a stretch. Only my opinion.

Given what a star he is, is a statement to the success of LOTSW.

Does anyone know why his shows aren't repeated. Does he hold the rights and doesn't allow it?

Apparently! His shows are considered " out dated" " corny " and " cost to much to broadcast " not my words or thoughts but Russ Abbotts and the BBCs.
It now seems he lives in Portugal and has given up on showbiz.

His show's also not on dvd sadly despite two videos back in the day. There's a cd with about an or so's worth of material however as well on dvd his Hobbo stint, Boomers series 1 and the rather underrated September Song he did with Michael Williams.
