Here starts a new thread in which I'll occasionally briefly muse over potential 'what if..' scenarios. If there are any you would like me to consider feel free to offer suggestions in this thread.

Today I'm going to look at the possibility Nora passed over before Compo and what would happen there.

I very much doubt that Mr Clarke would see the need to invent his Mrs Thursday so she would be out of the equation. Ivy would be a distinct possibility as she's equally childlike under certain, albeit far and far between, situations and for the most part unobtainable and highly resistent to his affections. Marina is chaste but far too easily caught and Mr Simmonite would lose appeal there quickly especially with Howard's jealous whining at play. My guess however is in addition to Ivy teasings he'd chat up the odd barmaid still but not follow through on any advance giving a spurious reason all the while maintaining his macho image. The laddies would all rally round to bring him buns and the like further cementing his status as hearthrob #1 in Holmfirth.

Wow, what an enterprising young man you are Mashi! TBH I've never thought that before. My guess is it would probably just go unmentioned like when she left for the first time. Perhaps Compo could have been in mourning for the rest of his life and wear a black armband and shun all other women - but I doubt it !!!!

The possibilities are endless when it comes to Nora and Compo but what if Wally out lived Nora? Would the kitchen turn into an extension to the pigeon loft? What if Wesley out lived Edie? Good grief! What would that house look like? Glenda would be round cooking his meals and doing his washing but she wouldn't be strong enough to stem the tide of motor parts engulfing the house, all starting with a set of feeler gauges on the bedside table followed by a hub cap under the table, a spark plug in the sugar bowl, poor Glenda would be over whelmed in no time. He wouldn't need the shed anymore so that would be obsolete. I'm not even going to think about Sid out living Ivy! But I can see the Cafe being renamed Cafè La Bon Bon, they'd have to black out the windows
