Ive just watched this again for the first time in ages and it is a magnificent episode, it has nice outdoor banter, cracking indoor stuff, Sid in a chief role, no messing about with many locations and a cast of a thousand extras. Id forgotten how excellent it was, definitely top 20 of all time material, possibly much higher. Some of the lines in it are brilliantly obsewrved and delivered. I think I shall watch it again later.

Clegg...... "You know, I think that fella in the Pub last night was right, Beethoven wasn't a Yorkshire man"
Compo...."Ayem but he were a good Goalkeeper though"

I suppose there's also a similarity between Mending Stuarts Leg and A Merry Heatwave, with a ladder propped up in front of the cafe.
