The early ones with valves probably were the worst!
I heard about someone's family getting one as a hand me down from a richer relative, but their Dad didn't like the smell of dust burning on the valves so as soon as they could afford to buy a newer set it was disposed of!
I remember in one episode at the coffee morning the women discuss the contents of their husband's pockets. Nora mentions Wally used to usually have treats for his pigeons & Ivy reckoned Sid's pockets always seemed to contain two toffees covered in tobacco & fluff!
Luckily the BBC had a gap in their schedule & asked Sullivan if he could dig out a previously rejected idea about a market trader & his younger brother...
My Great Uncle had them in the 1980s & had to give up driving because of them, I think his doctor restricted him to daylight driving but he decided to hand his licence in because he thought his eyesight would keep getting worse.
I remember 2 episode with him playing darts, the first where he threw them into a seat next to the trio & another like the one mentioned above, I think in both cases the background music was like the Bullseye theme!
