I thought those were just mild insults to pierce Foggy's self-importance and Walter Mitty type tales. Foggy had a kind of romance with a Welsh woman in one episode IIRC.
I just skipped through the first episode of DDtW on YouTube and it seems like "Duty Free" that was another sitcom set abroad but mostly filmed in a studio. At least "Benidorm" was filmed on location.
Watched this last night and it's amazing how many times they said the name Mrs Jack Attercliffe, it must have been at least a dozen. Was Roy Clarke having a bad writing day or is there some kind of in-joke about the repetition?
