This thread has reminded me that when I was young I always wondered what summer wine is as opposed to normal wine! Can`t remember ever hearing the term except as the programme title.

I did a couple of part-time jobs while a student. One was in a linen factory, and working in the sorting bay could be grim at times because some of the towels had been used to wipe all sorts of horrible stuff up before being sent to be laundered. Also worked in a betting shop briefly.

I vaguely remembered Eng Lit lessons when I was a teenager analysing novels we were supposed to read, but my memory may be faulty. Even though I've always enjoyed reading (fiction and non-fiction) I had no interest in taking English at A-level or degree level.

My mum started to teach me to read at age 4 and I always loved books, but didn't enjoy analysing them in English Lit lessons. I usually have a couple of books on the go and own over 1600.

If you like horror novels then I can recommend anything by Adam Nevill, and especially The Ritual.

The Beano, and I occasionally read Dandy. Apparently the Beano has changed over the years to be less offensive (Fatty and Spotty have been renamed, for instance), but I'm not sure kids need coddling like that. Unless kids have become a different species to when I grew up in the 70s, then...
