It does Marianna , I stayed in Whitby at one of the many great B and B's and travelled by bus to Scarborough, Staithes and Saltburn whose Funicular was working :)
I went last week !!! The town centre is like any other , the South Bay beach is well Yorkshire's answer to mini Blackpool ,big wheel ,slot machines didn't see any kiss me quick hats , plenty of families on the beach . My view was somewhat tainted by the fact that the funicular was out of order...
I have heard the Glums on Radio, Rick . It occasionally airs with other classic Radio sitcoms on BBC Radio 4 extra here in the UK although it is not on at present . It seems very dated when I have listened to it whilst other shows from that era still offer up humour and enjoyment . I have not...
So so sorry to hear of your mobility issues Marianna but keep pushing on I am sure you will. I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my knee last year I was sent [surprisingly to me] on a 2 day x 6 week exercise class at a Gym centered on people , like myself, who have these debilitating issues ...
As an aside did anyone have mobile shop vans in their area at one time. I remember then with great fondness , they sold everything and you could of course get sweets when the shops were closed , I think Supermarkets or perhaps regulations were their death knell.
I'm just back from a mini break in Whitby can recommend a trip there and Staithes but avoid Scarborough well the front didn't help that the Funicular was out of order so walk down and up was a tad torturous but it simply was not worth it [we were at the North Beach] didn't venture to South Beach...
I was in Staithes on Wednesday and walked through a Thunderstorm with a hail accompaniment back up the hill for the bus to Whitby by the time I got there Whitby was bathed in sunshine . Whilst in Staithes I met a group doing the Cleveland Way who set off on the leg to Whitby . I saw them later...

Memory lane for me Ferret when I was working we had a conference in a large hotel in Pott Shrigley effectively a jolly up and I have an abiding memory of about an hour after they opened the free bar and one of the most senior managers being carried out absolutely plastered after downing red...
I assumed Leroy is Granville's son, there is an episode where Paula Wilcox [her of Man About the House ] turns up playing Leroy's mum and it is implied that Granville is his dad but apologies in advance if I got that wrong.
My biggest issue with it is Mrs Featherstone romantically chasing Granville when in OAH nothing could be father from that scenario . It didn't warrant a remake becomes very predictable as the series progress and lacks the quality OAH had in the writing. I think personally they should have left...
Any fans of Oh Doctor Beeching ? It is being shown on That's TV today should anyone want to watch and/or record I have set a series link on my TIVO box.
I had the absolute pleasure of attending Newcastle's Theatre Royal yesterday for the matinee of The Last Laugh which is a play set in a dressing room of a theatre and is about the meeting of three of the greatest stars allegedly there to do a show Tommy Cooper , Eric Morecambe and Bob Monkhouse...

Watched Sting at Isle of Wight last weekend on Sky Arts he can still sing , reinvented some of his hits but to be fare the crowd seemed ambivalent most of the set, didn't seem to identify with him at all even Edith Bowman seemed to struggle to enthuse in that gushing manner you associate with...
