Who Are You Similar To In Last Of The Summer Wine?

My grandmother on my Dad's side was a softer version of Nora. My grandmother on my Mom's side was very much like Roz. Those Summer Wine ladies were very real.

Who Are You Similar To In Last Of The Summer Wine?

I have a lot of Clegg-like tendencies. I like to philosophize a bit. In my 20's, I was part of a trio of friends. I was definitely the Clegg of the group. I also see myself as Billy, aspiring for great heroism and adventure.

    There has been a Discussion

For me, Still Open All Hours has three different directions. In the first few seasons, the emphasis was on Gastric and Madge. I absolutely love these episodes! I can't get enough of them. Afterward, there was more emphasis on Mrs. Featherstone and Mr. Newbold. I enjoyed these seasons but felt...

Like the later years of Summer Wine, SOAH has a timeless feel to it. I was born in the mid-70s. I can watch SOAH and it could easily be the 80's or the 90's, etc. Same as the Trully years of Summer Wine, I am oblivious to the era.

    It takes a village?

I absolutely love watching the transitions of the show. It's sad when I know Blamire leaves but it's exciting knowing all of Foggy's adventures are ahead. It's sad to see Foggy leave, but Trully is a very welcoming sight. As mentioned in previous posts, I generally think of Series 8-11 as the...

    There has been a Discussion

I don't think I have anything new to add to this discussion, but I would love to have a chat about KUA and Still Open All Hours (blasphemy to some, but I like Still Open All Hours more than the original- well the first few seasons anyway). However, I don't know if there would be enough material...

How about this to get away from things....

I am not much of a drinker, but would go for the fellowship, and an occasional meal. I might have one beer and just soda afterward!

How about this to get away from things....

I would love the isolation and the surrounding countryside, but I wouldn't want to be too far from a pub or a tiny town. A thirty-minute walk to some of those places would be ideal.

Does "The Wild Blue Yonder" point toward more physical episodes?

Yes. Don't underestimate the setting in this show!

Does "The Wild Blue Yonder" point toward more physical episodes?

I don't know if it was ever about the plot for me. The characters, the way they interacted with each other, and their side adventures were always what appealed to me. I was just always fascinated with the guys in the twilight of their years roaming the countryside, trying to invent things...

Does "The Wild Blue Yonder" point toward more physical episodes?

Personally, I love the plotless feel that some of the episodes have. It is so unique. But as I mentioned before, it took me a few times to really appreciate the Blamire years. For example, I didn't like "A Quiet Drink" at all. After I properly got accustomed to that era, I really enjoy it now.

Does "The Wild Blue Yonder" point toward more physical episodes?

I will defer most of these questions to the experts. As for your last question, I definitely prefer a mixture of verbal and physical comedy. In the duration of the show, I believe they moved to more physical comedy a little too early. I would have loved to see the more dialogue-driven shows go...

Too Many Antiques shows on TV

I enjoy an occasional Antique Roadshow on the Maryland and Washington DC public television stations. However, they are now pushing "Celebrity Antique Roadshow." It turns me off whenever such a show or gameshow does a celebrity edition because it becomes all about the celebrity. However, if I am...

Why did season three feature Gordon?

I think it was mentioned here before. I imagine the scene with Foggy going into the cold water was one of those minimal parts. I can't imagine Blamire doing this.
