    Wesley

I am very behind the times with Summer wine, but, I recall seeing a road sign the gang pass by for Wharmby Street, this was after the passing of Gordon Wharmby, I thought it was a nice nod of recognition to the sad event.

    Goodbye Seymour, Hello Foggy

bigcat, I hope you have great success in your endeavours, I think the attraction for me was lack of malice in The Good Life, I started to forget it was a group of talented actors , same as Summer wine, yes, it was silly, but again, I came away thinking, If only life could be less intense, it was...

    Goodbye Seymour, Hello Foggy

May I say in response to the message from bigcat, I watched the Good life when it was broadcast, and although some critics were less than kind, I thoroughly enjoyed it, the cast just as in Summer Wine did a sterling job, and it was nice to see a gentler take on life and temporarily escape from...

Who says the final few series aren't funny???

I have just started on the Hobbo series, and I suppose I still want to see the older established cast on screen and clearly it would have been exhausting for Peter Sallis and Frank Thornton, I still smile at the antics, but I miss the original interaction between the trio, be it Blamire. Clegg...

Your favourite quotes from Last Of The Summer Wine. I'll begin

From an early episode, and I paraphrase - during the card school the members get up to use the toilet facilities prompting one chap to say " Its the first time all evening he will have known whats in his hand!"

    Continuity errors and mistakes

In " Enter the finger" all 3 martial arts "experts" are wearing the belt knotted over the right hip, this is usually worn in the middle of the stomach so if you are thrown or fall forwards and land face down it is absorbed by the stomach, a bit pedantic perhaps?, or maybe that is the joke?

    Name That Dog!

How about Concord?, - why you ask, well, its a purple grape, the dog is purple, and step on either, they both give out a little whine!, (Sorry bad joke!)

    Character's last names

I may be missing the joke, but, foggy was always listed as Dewhurst, yet in one episode they paint his name on the side of the white van as Dewhirst, or is it my imagination?

    Continuity errors and mistakes

In the episode " The second stag night of Doggy Wilkinson" the gang are wheeling Doggy along in hand cart, and in bottom left hand corner the camera crews equipment becomes visible briefly as they are tracking the cart.

    Continuity errors and mistakes

Another (glove related) mistake, again sorry I can't tell you name, it was re screened over festive season. Compo is persuaded to go on a motorcycle he appears in bike leathers , helmet, and gauntlets, as he loses control and enters a shop, his gauntlets are missing, you hear the crash, and he...

    Continuity errors and mistakes

One episode, sorry can't remember title. Clegg is outside building wearing woolly gloves, the three enter, Compo pulls off Cleggs gloves which are now black leather! - update :- my memories are obviously off, in The flag and its snag Clegg is wearing black leather gloves as they enter the cafe...

    Summerwine folk and Animals

I could always imagine Norman Clegg having a well behaved and elderly budgie, It would seem to fit in with his generally calm demeanour.

    Continuity errors and mistakes

Over the festive season, the Christmas specials have been screened. In Whoops, the three main gentlemen are watching the school children play, they decide to walk on their hands. Compo is in wellies, yet when he is walking on his hands behind the wall, he has changed to shoes, then when he has...

    Edited Dvd release

Thank you for that prompt reply, I realise that you will not always gel with everybody you meet in life, and I suppose it is testament to the actors involved that they persevered and remained professional on screen. I was told that Barbara Cartland once said and I paraphrase here " Once you...

    Edited Dvd release

Thank you Graham, I was late discovering the series, did not pick up until Brian Wilde joined, managed to purchase series with Michael Bates on VHS, yes i am that old, Strangely, it did not engage me as much as season 3 onwards, it seemed to mellow a little with Foggy, the Blamire episodes were...

    Edited Dvd release

I read online that particularly when "Milburn " or " Crusher" joined, some of his scenes were edited, I by then had tried to catch televised episodes as broadcast, and had an offer on the complete box set recently, but, I decided to wait. I do remember when a friend loaned me a dvd of "Men...

    Edited Dvd release

Good evening, I was late discovering Last of The Summer Wine, and really only got on board as Brian Wilde came in as Foggy, I see there are complete dvd releases, but, have been led to believe certain episodes were edited before dvd release, would anyone know if this is true?, it seems odd that...
