    the Blamire years

The only gripes i had about the first two series release was the omission of the Pilot episode and only three episodes on most of the discs.Would much rather have had only two discs conatining more episodes. but i suppose from the selling point, four discs sounds better than two :) Hector.

    The Cafe

Interesting info about the buses. After watching, Getting Sam Home,i was surprised that the van was even allowed on the roads let alone sell food from but maybe things wernt so strict in those days and folk not so fussy ;D :D I would be inclined to think that Ivy had a good little business...

    The Cafe

My vote would go to Barry and Glenda although i wouldnt want to see her as stern as Ivy but still firmly in command,so to speak. ;D..On the other hand it might be fun to bring in two new charcters with similar personalities as Ivy and Sid.Both could give as good as the other just like Sid and...

    Who would you pick

I also have to pass on this as i only watched the first few episodes of DBOM and really disliked it.It was just one of those programmes i couldnt get into at all. Hector.

the romantic life of Norman Clegg

I have always liked and enjoyed watching Norman Clegg but i would tend to favour him in the earlier series. He was much sharper and quite often the instigator of the trios misadventures. He was also more courageous and once locked horns with Nora Batty much to the surprise,i think,of even Blamire...

    Funny typos, speakos and whatever-collection

I had a friend who used to come out with some gems.Sadly he passed away a few years ago from cancer. Did you see the torryental rain last night?(torrential) ;D The metraphorical office is giving odds of 3/1 that it will snow at Xmas(Metrological) ; I cant remember any more at the moment Hector

    Papering a ceiling

I got the impression that Cleggy was telling us that she could be a boring, unadventurous type of woman.Someone who was more content with the mundane domestic way of life as opposed to the romantic and adventurous side of things. It appeared that drinking a scalding hot cup of tea and papering a...

Series 8, Episode 1; The Mysterious Feet of Nora Batty

final reflections and questions on the final series

I really started to enjoy the last couple of series and more so when Hobbo settled down from that OTT Secret Agent stuff. It was a pity that Roy and Russ wernt able to develope his character more.I would also have liked to see a cut back on a lot of the supporting characters and sub plots and...

    the interior of Compo's house

Apart from the bedroom and living room, the only other one i can remember seeing is what looked like a pantry just off the main room(Ferret come home). When i first started to watch Summerwine i was continually trying to figure out how Compo got to the bedroom. The stairs were situated directly...

Anyone notice that Nora almost laughed

Totally agree ****,thats the very first time i spotted Ivy supressing the giggles, when she gave poor old Sid a dig in the ribs with that magazine. Two great episodes as well ;D Hector.

    More funny lines

The one that always springs to mind first is by the old warrior in Destiny and Six Bananas. They were discussing what to dip the arrow in to subdue wild animals. Foggy,Well if you must know, its Horlicks. Compo .HORLICKS????? Foggy,,Well it makes me go to sleep. ;D ;D ;D ;D That still cracks me...

1983 Christmas Special; Getting Sam Home

When i initially tried to watch Getting Sam Home a few times, i just couldnt get into it at all.I couldnt get used to John Comers voice being dubbed by Tony Melody and i also missed the audience laughter. It happened to come on UKGold some time later and i was actually able to sit and watch it...

    John Inman

Are you being served was one of those types that i liked well enough but was never a "must see".I would agree with the comment about the John Inman show as it seemed that a lot of the later shows were built around him. I have wondered a few times why i have never seen it repeated even though it...

    Smoking in summer Wine

I read somewhere(possibly A Vines book)that they wanted to attract either a younger or family type(cant rem now) audience so the smoking and extremely mild swearing was dropped. I remember seeing the episode where Wesley smokes and for some reason it really surprised me and i couldnt tell you...
