Compo seemed to be like this around a few women, not just Nora. He quite liked a grope of Ivy and the occasional nestling in Marina's bosom, much to Howard's displeasure.
In a time of Operation Yewtree, I doubt it would be part of Compo's character today.
Doesn't mean she couldn't have appeared, after all, Nurse Gladys is no longer a nurse. I think that perhaps it was decided that Mavis would be Granville's potential love interest, so the former milkwomen might have confused matters. Might have been interesting if the new episode had started with...
The Black Widow, Mrs Featherstone has been mentioned several times.
Don't think anyone has mentioned the absence of Barbara Flynn. Everyone else still with us from the original seemed to appear in it, I wonder why she didn't?
Never heard of it, but it does sound similar to Pat & Cabbage which starred Barbara Flynn and Cherie Lunghi. Never watched it so don't know what it was like.

Interesting that Barbara Flynn was one of the few who didn't appear in Still Open All...
Good collection of photos here. Liked the ones of the 3 wheel bike which shows how they filmed the bike close ups.

But if you expect a lot about LOTSW in Fading into the Limelight you will be disappointed. There's another thread about Peter's new book called Summer Wine and Other Stories. Not clear yet if this is just Fading updated, or new with the emphasis on Summer Wine. Feeling is it might be an update...
My point was that with someone more like the original Granville in the role then the son would clearly be different. I imagined that Kinnear was someone of sufficient comedy acting prowess and still young enough to engage with Jason in a way that is desired of main characters. It was just an...
If it's going to be a series it really does need someone to emerge as the foil for David Jason's Granville. That's what made the original series so successful. At the time, Jason wasn't a big name as such as his big break in Only Fools and Horses was just around the corner, but his face was well...
I did read his original autobiography when it first came out and I do recall that there was not much about LOTSW in it at all. Quire disappointing actually. I got the impression that he wanted to get over to the reader that he was more than just Norman Clegg and he didn't spend all his time...
Babs was a very stereotypical negative image of a young person. The makeup was goth/punk, but probably dated and didn't sit right a comedy like LOTSW. LOTSW has never been about the young, other than to have occasional jokes at their expense, the character was never going to be written as just...
I like the early one when Compo buys the others expensive watches that can only be seen in the dark for Christmas. A shocked Foggy wonders if he nicked them, but Compo's motive is that he bought them from Nora's Christmas club and she will now have to chase after him for the money. Clegg decides...
It seemed to win the ratings war. Should be enough to give it a series.
"The one-off Christmas special of 'Still Open All Hours' is winning the festive ratings battle, beating the audience figures of both 'Doctor Who' and 'Mrs Brown's Boys'.
It drew in an audience of 9.43 million on Boxing...
I'm going to have to watch it again without the usual family stuff going on all around. From what I saw I thought that it was ok, funny in places, but nothing stood out that made me think it was special.
Nice to see some left field guest appearances from Johnny Vegas and Mark Williams. David...
Very good.
Other than the occasional use of fake snow, was there ever a winter LOTSW where there was real snow on the ground or in the fields and hills? I assume not as they wouldn't be filming at that time of year. At least I can't recall a real winter episode. Wouldn't be ideal for the actors...
I haven't watched this, but as there is a LOTSW connection others may be interested. On ITV today and is available via the itvplayer for the next month (probably UK only).
Lost for Words with Thora Hird and Keith Clifford in a supporting role.
