Anyone know how Peter Sallis is doing?

From the research I did, I know he's in his early 90's and suffers from a condition called macular degeneration, which could result in blindness. However, that was a while ago, and I don't know if his condition worsened, or if he's still doing any acting in any capacity. Anyone with current...

    favourite Foggy solo scene

One that immediately comes to mind is the episode where Compo and Clegg convince the female bartender Foggy made a fortune in the frozen turkey business, and then she coyly says "GOBBLE GOBBLE" to him.

    Are there Any American Actors........

A few names come to mind who I think would have been a great addition to the show... Ernest Borgnine Lucille Ball Abe Vigoda Clint Eastwood Olympia Dukakis Sally Field Mickey Rooney Donald Sutherland Jill Clayburgh George Burns Andy Griffith Don Knotts Art Carney Billy Crystal

    4 years ago today (20/3)

It didn't make the news here in the United States, so I found out about it while doing some research online. Two-thirds of the classic trio are in Heaven now, making everyone laugh I'm sure! I always loved how Foggy's best laid plans always went up in smoke, despite his best intentions. With...

    Has LOTSW's cancellation affected tourism?

I'm curious to know if Holmfirth and the surrounding boroughs have been adversely affected at all in the wake of LOTSW's cancellation. I sincerely hope tourism is still thriving. Also, can anyone post a full menu from Sid & Ivy's cafe showing all the items they offer with corresponding prices if...

did anyone else think the Sid and Ivy rowing scenes were toned down aftera while

I did notice Ivy screaming less and breaking less cups and saucers and relying more on sly, witty comments when she poked fun at Sid.

    More funny lines

Compo's run-ins with the electric and gas boards were always noteworthy... "We came to an agreement. I'm cut off!"

Did anyone else feel sorry for Marina?

I actually felt sorry for Howard for being so hen-pecked by Pearl. She definitely had him on a short leash!

    Speaking of recipes...

Anybody have recipes that approximate the cream cakes, buns and meat pies that Sid and Ivy served in the cafe? Also, after watching the Christmas episode "Small Tune On A Penny Wassail", I'm curious to know what goes into a traditional Christmas pudding. Thank you in advance for any information...

    The last great series

Susan, I couldn't agree with you more. After reading Andrew Vine's book, I too came to the conclusion that no other series out there will match the class, style, humility and grace of LOTSW. Comedies nowadays rely too heavily on outright vulgarity in a vain attempt at humor, and it is, in my...

    Seymore's inventions

From what I understand, the localtion of Compo's home has been converted into a museum that houses a lot of the props from the show. Whether or not it contains any of Seymour's inventions, I haven't a clue. Maybe somebody who posts here who also visited the museum can put up some pictures. Just...

    A Quiet Drink

Unfortunately, all the cast members I would like to chat with have since passed on. Of the surviving ones, I'd have to choose Peter Sallis, Frank Thornton, Jane Freeman, Josephine Tewson, Juliette Kaplan and Robert Fyfe.

1982 Christmas Special; All Mod Conned

One of my favorite LOTSW episodes ever! Foggy getting tossed out of the station waiting room and Compo falling over in the outhouse were notable moments! Then, when they burn down the caravan in a vain attempt to fix it up, that was the proverbial icing on the cake!

    Where are u all from

I'm from the United States -- New Jersey in particular. I'd have to do quite a bit of swimming to get to Holmfirth! ;D
