    Going out to eat

Yes, you're right. With the tartans and clan crests up on the wall, the place definitely has a Scottish vibe.

I think because they are part of a steakhouse chain is the reason they go with the filet mignon. Or maybe it's an Irish thing?

    Going out to eat

There's a pub restaurant near me in Atwater Village called Tam O'Shanter (It's part of Lawry's steakhouse chain). Their Toad in the hole is pretty good (Yorkshire pudding, filet mignon, with a burgundy wine sauce). They also have Shepard pie (lamb and cream spinach) but it's seasonal. The prime...

    Going out to eat

When I go out here in So Cal, me and my friends tend to share our plates more. One serving has way too much food on it. So two friends may get a desert item while me and the other get the two main courses then we all pick at each others dishes. Unorthodox but we don't mind.

    Favorite one-off characters

Frank Middlemass as Judd, the barber. Always liked him in As Time Goes By. Christine Cox as Cousin Olive. A bit of a precursor to the Marina Character IMO. Michael Stainton as the vicar in Of Funerals and Fish. Didn't really care for the other vicars, a bit too full of themselves.

Kathy Staff in Some Enchanted Evening

I had seen that scene on PBS here in L.A. I do think some stations have different tapes though as KOCE has shown the early episodes uncensored (the barbershop scene with the topless pics) where as I thought I read some other stations did censor those shots. It could be some stations have edited...

    Check it out

I believe his post is aimed at fellow Brits about a new T.V. program. See this thread for details. http://www.summerwine.net/community/index.php?topic=3664.0

    Wit vs slapstick

I believe something else that changed over the years was Clegg's demeanor towards Nora, Ivy and women in general. The first five years of the show, Norman had no problem taking little jabs at the ladies in a passive-aggressive sort of way. I'm not sure what triggered the change for him to become...

    Wit vs slapstick

I think the thing that has brought me around to liking the first few series of the show as compared to the later work is the black humor, backhanded compliments and overall dialogue of the Blamire /early Foggy years. A lot of witty back and forth that really had you paying attention to what was...

    Bill and Tom

I can go along with that but I'm also of the opinion that speaking ill of your relatives or others that have passed, while therapeutic in some people's eyes I guess just doesn't sit well with me. Especially the jibe at Kathy Staff. I remember when she died and Peter said something along the...

    Bill and Tom

It's hard to take this at full value without hearing from the other person (or persons, as Kathy Staff seemed to have earned his ire also). It's like when one of Bing Crosby's kids accused him of child abuse after he passed away. The rest of his siblings said it was all bull but we'll never know...

Actors who appeared over the years in different roles

Here is Gordon in what is supposedly his first role as "second policeman" in Play For Today in 1977. Can't remember anyone like him in Forked Lightning or A Bicycle made for three. I think that if Gordon had done an earlier role on LOSW, no matter how small the part, it would have been...

Lesson on how to post a photo needed

To post a picture you have uploaded to a photo host site or have seen on another site, go to the picture (not the linked pictures you see when you look at images on Google search but the actual page the picture is on). Right click on the picture. With Google chrome you will see the option to...

Lesson on how to post a photo needed

It looks like that option was nixed (if it ever existed here). I thought we had it before the board upgrade but can't be 100% sure. The only way I can see doing it is what I have done in other forums; upload your photo to one of the free picture host sites - flickr/photobucket/...
