Well my return to Summerwine land is hitting full pace, looking like the end of August. A return to Holmfirth for the first time in around 6 years is planned plus a trip to Saltburn. Anyone been to Saltburn. What's it like. I'm also going to pop into Northumberland to Alnwick . Back in Yorkshire I think I'll go to Grassington. Scarborough. Pop into Skipton amongst other things. I'll be based in Leeds and just get a north east rail rover ticket. Any other suggestions as I currently have a spare day

I was in Saltburn last year and will be next week as staying in Whitby and will use the ol' bus pass to travel up on a day trip . Sadly the Funicular was still being repaired last year but I believe it is back in service and is a must to travel on for the sheer admiration of the engineering . The promenade on a nice day is pure nostalgia and you can just sit watching the sea . There is a really excellent Fish restaurant which I can thoroughly recommend we queued for a little while but it was well worth it and you can book a table if you wish in advance here's a link to their site, have a great time there Amos.

I'm just back from a mini break in Whitby can recommend a trip there and Staithes but avoid Scarborough well the front didn't help that the Funicular was out of order so walk down and up was a tad torturous but it simply was not worth it [we were at the North Beach] didn't venture to South Beach so no idea what that was like . I have seen blogs and vlogs saying that Robin Hood's and Runswick bays are worth a visit the former is but it is such a steep walk you need to assess carefully if you are up to it , inland they keep recommending Knaresborough . Have a great break Amos.

Can recommend everything that the Cap listed. Been there, done that, would enjoy a revisit. Love Whitby, partly because I like the HF house just outside town. Could spend another several days poking around and photographing the Abbey ruins. The church is worth an extensive visit, too.

Seem to be making progress in recovering from rhabdomyolysis. Still using a walker (Zimmer frame), but can take a few baby steps without supporting some of my rather slight weight on my arms. Might someday walk unsupported and be able to move my luggage on and off trains and busses. Maybe I'll get my life back someday.

So so sorry to hear of your mobility issues Marianna but keep pushing on I am sure you will. I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my knee last year I was sent [surprisingly to me] on a 2 day x 6 week exercise class at a Gym centered on people , like myself, who have these debilitating issues . I was sceptical but it really worked and now but for one two day flare up I am walking pain free and regained my mobility so working through it does seem to offer up some success.
